Silly Symphony Swings Debuts at Disney’s California Adventure

With an official opening date of June 11th, the newly re-themed Silly Symphony Swings began “soft opening” runs last Friday morning. What was formerly known as the “Orange Stinger” has been re-themed to the 1935 Mickey Mouse short feature “The Band Concert,” with the music of Rossini’s “William Tell Overture.”

Additional Details Surface Related to Disneyland Hotel Makeover

Disney Parks Blog has come out with some additional exciting details surrounding the current makeover portions of The Disneyland Hotel are receiving. They include enhancements to the pool area as well as the addition of two new dining establishments. The Dreams Tower (to be renamed Adventure Tower) has already been under renovation and is scheduled to be completed in 2010.

Disney/ABC To Launch ‘Disney Juinor’ – A New Channel For Preschoolers and Their Families

Disney/ABC Television Group will launch “Disney Junior”, a new multiplatform brand and 24-hour basic cable/satellite channel and online site devoted to preschool-age children. Scheduled to debut in the U.S. in 2012, Disney Junior will invite mom and dad to join their child in the Disney experience of magical, musical and heartfelt stories and characters, both classic and new, while incorporating specific learning and development themes designed for kids age 2-7.

Female Baby Elephant Born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

A new baby elephant has been added to the elephant population at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Donna, a 22-year-old elephant Donna is the proud mother of a 288-pound female calf who has yet to be named. Right now, baby and mom are in their backstage home, but in several weeks are expected to join the rest of the elephant herd on the Kilimanjaro Safaris.

Walt Disney World to Build New Hotel Dubbed “Disney’s Art of Animation Resort”

Walt Disney World is planning the construction of a new 2,000-room resort that will open in 2012. “Disney’s Art of Animation Resort” will feature 1,120 suites with room for as many as six people per room and another 864 traditional rooms, with a design theme based on four of the company’s most popular animated movies.

Attention Star Wars Fans: Final Tour To Endor Announced

In conjunction with the Star Wars Celebration V taking place in Orlando August 12-15, 2010, guests to have an opportunity to be the first to be the last to ride Star Tours before its October closure prior to its conversion into a newer version of the attraction. The “Last Tour to Endor” event will take place on August 14 from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Mickey Mouse Finds His Voice

This is so cool! Seems as if Disney Imagineering is testing out technology that will allow The Mickey Mouse character you see in the parks to actually speak and interact guests. In the past, all costumed characters have been silent with the exception of shows and parades. However just recently, a few lucky guests were invited to be part of an experiment conducted in Mickey’s Toon Town studio where the character soke to them and even blinked his eyes.
