Walt Disney’s “What Will You Celebrate?” promotion began on January 1st albeit with a few changes that you’ll want to know about before you redeem your free birthday admission offer. The promotion is designed to reward guests that are 3 years old and up a free one-day, one-park ticket when they visit a domestic Disney theme park on their birthday. The Birthday Ticket can be upgraded to a park-hopper, multi-day ticket or even annual passport.

The changes are centered around some alternate benefits, specifically designed for those who already have “year-round” access to the parks.Alternate benefits include:

A “birthday fun card” equal to the price of the admission ticket you would otherwise receive, currently $59 for ages 3-9 and $69 for ages 10+. This fun card cannot be used for food, but it can be used for merchandise, guided tours, PhotoPass products, spa and salon services and more.

When the promotion was first announced Disney said that this fun card would be valid only on your birthday, but the offer was changed and the card now has no expiration date.

A “birthday fastpass” which provides four FastPass tickets, valid for up to 6 people, at selected attractions.

A one-day, one-park admission ticket valid for your use anytime in the year before your next birthday. This ticket can be used on a day (including your birthday) that your Annual Passport is normally blocked out, or after your existing pass expires. This ticket is not transferable, and can not be upgraded.

To receive one of these alternate offers, you will still need to visit a Disneyland Resort ticket booth and present your eligible identification along with your valid admission ticket. A MousePlanet reader reported that she skipped those lines and used her valid annual passport to enter Disneyland, then received her fun card at City Hall.
