D23 Celebrates Disneyland’s 55th Anniversary With All-New Two-Day Destination D Event

Bob Iger recently announced at the Walt Disney Company shareholder’s meeting that the D23 Expo will return in 2011, but to add to the excitement for D23 members this year, the official Disney fan club is introducing a brand-new event called “Destination D” which will be held this September in Anaheim, illuminating Disney’s fascinating and rich history.

Building Walt’s Dream – Time Lapse Film Footage of Disneyland’s Construction

If you are a Disneyland fanatic such as myself, then you are going to absolutely love recent film footage that has been released of Disneyland’s construction in 1954-55. This never-before-seen footage was sitting on a shelf all these years and only saved by a curious employee.

Using time-lapse and traditional eye-in-the-sky photography, this is a dazzling piece of history, presenting how the fearless construction crews had Disneyland up and running in just under a year.

Disneyland Turns 54 Years Old Today – Happy Birthday!

Fifty four years ago today, Disneyland opened its gates to the public for the first time. Since then, Disneyland has become much more than a theme park – it has become a memory book to so many who have passed under the tunnels that lead to Main Street U.S.A. where to sign overhead reads, “Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy.”

Summer Nightastic! Underway at Disneyland Resort

As previously promised, Disney kicked off the summer season this past weekend with the Summer Nightastic! promotion, featuring the relaunch of an improved Fantasmic! and Electrical Parade, the debut of the all-new Magical Fireworks show, the TLT Dance Club and Pixie Hollow Enchantment overlays.

Disneyland’s Summer Nightastic!

During the first 30 years of Disneyland’s history, the park often struggled to create an identity to attract locals into the park. One of the strategies they would employ is to host “themed” nights in which they might bring in some form of entertainment.

With no new major attraction to promote this year, Disneyland resort is reverting back to an old trick with what they call “Nightastic!”

Happiest Place on Earth… But Not For All

Reuters reports that a man apparently jumped to his death today from the 14th floor of the Disneyland Hotel at the world-famous amusement park in Southern California. “Right now it is certainly looking like a suicide,” Anaheim Police Sgt. Rick Martinez told Reuters. “He was seen leaping off the balcony.”
