Toy Story 3 Makes History Passing the $1 Billion Mark

Disney/Pixar Animation Studio’s “Toy Story 3D” has crossed the $1 billion threshold at the global box office making it the first animated film to ever reach such a feat. In fact, this is Disney’s second film this year to reach the $1 billion mark -Tim Burton’s “Alice In Wonderland” being the other film to reach the astounding number. If that wasn’t marvelous enough, Disney is now the only studio in history to have two films beyond the $1 billion mark in a year.

Guillermo del Toro To Make Movie Based on Haunted Mansion

Guillermo del Toro’s is developing a film based on Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion attraction. Del Toro surprised over 6,000 fans at a panel at San Diego’s comic book convention Comic-Con with the announcement that he is teaming up with Walt Disney Studios to produce a film based on the classic theme park ride, built in 1969.

Today the first official trailer for the Tim Burton film “Alice in Wonderland” has been released. You can see it below via YouTube, but for the maximum experience, try watching it in HD on Apple.com. The film hits theaters on March 5, 2010, and the studio has carefully revealed information relating to the film using social media sites like Facebook and Flickr.

Disney Forms Deal To Air Movies and Television in the Middle East

Blockbuster movies such as “Wall-E” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” as well as television series such as “Ugly Betty” will soon be screened free-to-air in the Middle East, as a result of a new deal that was recently announced in Dubai.

This new partnership will greatly expand coverage by making the content available to the Middle East’s booming satellite free-to-air television market.

Walt Disney Company To Build New Production Facility Near Santa Clarita

Walt Disney Company recently announced its plans build a 56-acre film/television production facility in northern Los Angeles County, casting a ray of light on an otherwise gloomy film economy that has hemorrhaged thousands of jobs in the last decade.

The proposed Disney/ABC Studios at the Ranch would occupy a corner of the Golden Oak Ranch, a sprawling 890-acre parcel off California 14 that has been the setting of such classic films as “Old Yeller.”
