I say finally as a new Star Tours experience is long overdue. Apparently Star Tours 2.0 is currently in production and should be announced in the fall for a summer ’09 launch. Currently only Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios have agreed to take the new movie. No word on whether the new movie includes an update to the theming in the attraction’s queue.

It has also been confirmed that Disney has applied for various government permits for the second Soarin’ movie and shooting could begin as early as this fall for a late ’09 premiere at Disney’s California Adventure and Epcot. It is assumed that the new Soarin’ film will be more of a global theme which would make sense for Epcot as well as a re-vamped California Adventure.
