Last month I reported that Disney Imagineering was working to restore the Sleeping Beauty Walk-Through that was originally created in 1953 within the walls of Sleeping beauty Castle in Disneyland but sadly closed in October of 2007. A post at Re-Imagineering today announces that it will re-open in time for Christmas.
I would imagine that David and Marisol Chaveco, a Clermont, Florida couple who own a small party business, never thought they’d be famous, at least not in this manner. Nevertheless, it is national news now that the Walt Disney Company is suing the couple for trademark infringement. Disney is seeking $1 million in damages.
On July 3rd, the new Mark VII Monorail Red was officially placed into passenger service. I only wonder how long it will last? Reports have circulated over the past few months that the new monorail, which arrived last December, has been plagued with problems including issues with proper ventilation.
The Re-Imagineering Blog brings to our attention today that with Disney’s recently announced “new vision” for Downtown Disney in Florida, one of the finest themed environments ever created by Walt Disney Imagineering — The Adventurer’s Club, is slated for demolition.
Shanghai could be welcoming their very own Disneyland park as early as 2012. The theme park, with an estimated cost of 40 billion yuan ($5.8 billion), will be located on the east bank of Shanghai’s Huangpu River, bordering Pudong district’s Chuansha town and Nanhui district, an unnamed source close to Shanghai government was quoted as saying.
Walt Disney World Resort has unveiled their new vision for Downtown Disney which will include extraordinary new shopping, dining and other experiences including a completely re-imagined Pleasure Island. Also planned are numerous enhancements to popular Downtown Disney locations, as well as additional theming and storytelling brought to life by Walt Disney Imagineers.
Now that the Toy Story Midway Mania attraction is open at both Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Orlando and California Adventure at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Magical Mountain.net has come out with some very interesting fun facts surrounding this new Disney attraction.
In February of this year, I wrote how Disney was planning on reviving the House of the Future, an attraction that had closed its doors in 1966 and was later demolished. Monday marked the official opening of this second generation “house of the future.” But is it really that futuristic?
I’ve been to the “happiest place on Earth” a total of eight times in my life, starting in 1977 and the last trip taking place in 2006. In that time frame, I’ve pretty much experienced every attraction the park has to offer with the exception of two – Club 33 and the Sleeping Beauty Walk-Through Diorama. While chances are pretty slim I’ll ever get to visit Club 33, not only due to the exorbitant fees to join this exclusive club but the alleged ten plus year waiting period, it looks hopeful that I will get to experience the walk-through in Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland.
Disney announced today an expansion of its media offerings on its Xtreme Digital (XD) online network. In conjunction with its 2008 summer movie broadcast schedule for its ABC television network, the entertainment giant has introduced a staged rollout of full-length movie streams to Web viewers following their original showing on the Wonderful World of Disney on Saturday nights.
