If you have been to Disneyland a number of times as I have, you have no doubt crossed the path of a feline or two. Cats at Disneyland? You bet! And they are not a part of the collection of animatronic figures located at the park. They are the real deal. So, how did they get there in the first place?
I’m a huge fan of Disneyland, the original theme park and as such am as much interested in its history and secrets as visiting it in person. I have visited the park a total of eight times as of the writing of this post and yet there are still places I have not been and secrets that have not been revealed to me.
Last month I reported that Disney Imagineering was working to restore the Sleeping Beauty Walk-Through that was originally created in 1953 within the walls of Sleeping beauty Castle in Disneyland but sadly closed in October of 2007. A post at Re-Imagineering today announces that it will re-open in time for Christmas.
On July 3rd, the new Mark VII Monorail Red was officially placed into passenger service. I only wonder how long it will last? Reports have circulated over the past few months that the new monorail, which arrived last December, has been plagued with problems including issues with proper ventilation.

In that time frame, I’ve pretty much experienced every attraction the park has to offer with the exception of two – Club 33 and the Sleeping Beauty Walk-Through Diorama. While chances are pretty slim I’ll ever get to visit Club 33, not only due to the exorbitant fees to join this exclusive club but the alleged ten plus year waiting period, it looks hopeful that I will get to experience the walk-through in Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland.
Reuters reports that a man apparently jumped to his death today from the 14th floor of the Disneyland Hotel at the world-famous amusement park in Southern California. “Right now it is certainly looking like a suicide,” Anaheim Police Sgt. Rick Martinez told Reuters. “He was seen leaping off the balcony.”
