Have you been anxiously waiting for the much anticipated Disney streaming service to go live? Well, you won’t have to wait much longer. November 12th is when it is to make it’s debut. Following is the official press release regarding the upcoming Disney+ streaming service.

The Walt Disney Company was already a behemoth of a company. Now with the recent acquisition of 21st Century Fox and all of its assets, Disney is just that much larger! Most are familiar with some of the companies/brands they have acquired over the years including Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm (Star Wars), ABC and ESPN, but the list does not end there. 

The Walt Disney Company’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox means that the already behemoth of a media company now controls a huge amount of our most beloved films and television series. Announced in December 2017 and expected to take until at least 2021 to complete, the $66.1 billion deal ranks among the largest mergers of its kind in history.

The list of Disney Honorees to be celebrated during this year’s D23 Expo is impressive to say the least and includes Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Jobs, and Dick Clark to name a few. I’m glad to see that Disney Imagineer Tony Baxter also made the list. These and many others will be honored at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, in the D23 Expo Arena at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Disney has come a long way from its “it all started with a mouse” origins. What started as a cartoon studio in 1923 by the two brothers, Walt and Roy Disney, is today the largest media company worldwide by both revenue and familiarity. Unless you are living in a cave, Disney has the attention and dollars from the day that most folks are born until the day they die.

I certainly didn’t see this coming but cannot say that I’m surprised. As Disney continues to expand themselves as a media giant as well as the fact that one of the major attractions within Disney parks is the Star Tours attraction, the acquisition of Lucasfilm seems a natural fit.And for you Star War fans who thought there’d never be another Star Wars movie… think again! “Star Wars Episode 7” is slated to come out in 2015.

D23 Expo, the ultimate Disney fan event, skips this year but will return to the Anaheim Convention Center on August 9-11, 2013. If you’ve never been to a D23 Expo, it is something to see. Personally I love the trade floor and especially all the Disney collectibles. But, there’s a lot more to it than Disney products and collectibles. Read on for the details.

At a recent press conference held at Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney CEO Bob Iger and Chairman Tom Staggs just announced a long-term creative partnership with James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment and Fox Filmed Entertainment to bring the fantasy world of AVATAR to life at Disney Parks. Apparently it will all begin at Walt Disney World Resort, specifically Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Disney fans fans will have the rare opportunity to go behind the scenes at the upcoming D23 Expo where they will explore the exciting list of projects on the horizon at The Walt Disney Studios, with a variety of panel discussions, sneak peeks, and exhibits.

Regis Philbin, Jim Henson, Disney Princesses Jodi Benson, Paige O’Hara, Lea Salonga, and Anika Noni Rose are just a few of the names on the list of honorees to be celebrated during the Disney Legends Awards Special Ceremony taking place on Friday, August 19 at the 2011 D23 Expo.

The “Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives” is returning to the 2011 D23 Expo along with the Disney Legends Awards – a tradition that pays tribute to the talented men and women who have made indelible contributions to the Disney legacy as well as the D23 Live Auction.
